The Biodome Project

Month 1 (01/07/24)

Today marks the start of the Biodome Project. I've carefully constructed the interior of the dome to replicate the natural habitats of each creature. There is plenty for them to explore; from the rolling hills to the dense forests to the frothing streams. I will be studying their behavior and keeping track of their lives as they're introduce to the dome. I'll start off with introducing four creatures: two male Etarakido and two female Stranga Sciuro.

I named the Stranga Sciuro Bumble and Scallop. Bumble is much bolder than the other Stranga Sciuro. I watch it glide confidently between the treetops, stuffing forage into its cheeks, before swiftly disappearing into a tree hollow. Scallop, on the other hand, preferred to clamber across the forest floor before crawling into the hollow after its colony-mate.

Coin the Etarakido is initially released alone. I don't see it until the nighttime simulation activates, engulfing the dome in darkness. Then, I watch the lovely iridescent streak dart back and forth, scoping the artificial forests for insects.

Later, I won a raffle which landed me another beautiful Etarakido specimen. After naming it Star, I release it into the Biodome. It alights on a nearby tree branch, staring unblinkingly at its surroundings for what feels like hours. It's lived most of its life in another lab, so I wonder how it'll fair in this more natural environment?
